High Impact Acrylic Sheet (PMMA-HI)

High Impact Acrylic (HI)

Superior Impact Resistance with Optical Clarity

Upgrade durability without sacrificing aesthetics. SRT High Impact Acrylic (PMMA-HI) is engineered with a specialized elastomer modifier that significantly increases mechanical strength compared to standard acrylic. Offering performance comparable to premium grades like Plexiglas® Resist or Perspex® Impact, this material bridges the gap between standard PMMA and Polycarbonate. Available in two grades (HI25 and HI50), it offers the same pristine optical quality and UV stability as standard acrylic but is far more resistant to cracking and shattering during fabrication and use. Ideal for signage, skylights, and automotive glazing where safety and durability are paramount.

High Impact Acrylic Sheet (PMMA-HI)

Enhanced Durability for Demanding Applications

Standard acrylic can be brittle and prone to shattering under stress. SRT High Impact Acrylic (PMMA-HI) solves this by incorporating a specialized impact modifier into the polymer matrix - similar to the technology found in high-impact Plexiglas® series. This innovative formulation creates a sheet that retains the glossy, crystal-clear appearance of standard PMMA but can withstand significantly higher mechanical loads and accidental impacts without failing.

Superior Impact Resistance

While standard acrylic has a typical Charpy impact strength of roughly 12 kJ/m², SRT PMMA-HI achieves up to 50 kJ/m² (HI50 grade). This makes it up to four times stronger than standard acrylic, providing an essential safety factor for public installations, glazing, and busy retail environments where durability is paramount.

Optical Clarity & Weatherability

Despite its added toughness, SRT PMMA-HI maintains exceptional transparency with a light transmission of approximately 92% (Clear grade). It is fully weather-resistant and UV-stable, making it suitable for long-term outdoor use. Note: During thermoforming, the sheet may temporarily acquire a whitish tone, but it regains full transparency upon cooling.

Processing & Fabrication

This material is exceptionally fabrication-friendly. The added elasticity makes it far less prone to chipping or cracking during drilling and sawing compared to standard acrylic. It creates stronger adhesive bonds and can still be laser cut to achieve polished edges, following the same heating and forming cycles as standard PMMA.

Typical Use Case

A perfect solution for vending machine fronts and arcade game covers. Its superior impact resistance prevents cracking from accidental kicks or bumps in high-traffic public areas, ensuring the equipment remains safe and visually appealing significantly longer than standard acrylic.
