SRT PMMA-Opal (Ref. 385) is the industry benchmark for backlit signage. While high-transmission sheets focus on brightness, this Opal grade focuses on uniformity and hiding power. It is formulated to diffuse light thoroughly, ensuring that the light source is invisible and the face of the sign appears as a solid block of light.

Optical Properties: Density vs. Brightness

With a light transmission of 34% (at 3mm thickness), SRT PMMA-Opal is significantly denser than our "Ice" grade. This density gives the material a brilliant, pure white aesthetic when unlit (during the day). When backlit, it softens the light significantly, creating a smooth, premium glow that eliminates the harshness of direct LED exposure.

Weatherability & Application

Designed for exterior corporate branding, SRT PMMA-Opal is fully UV-stabilized. It will not yellow or become brittle, ensuring that white channel letters remain white for years. It is compatible with vinyl graphics, allowing for sharp, high-contrast signage where the white acrylic acts as a vivid canvas for colored logos.

Processing & Thermoforming

This material is excellent for deep-draw thermoforming. Because the opal pigment is distributed evenly throughout the matrix (not just a surface coating), the diffusion properties remain consistent even when the sheet is stretched into 3D domes or complex letters. It laser cuts cleanly, leaving a glossy, polished edge.

Its high opacity ensures that structural supports and wiring inside the sign are completely invisible during the day, presenting a clean, solid white surface that transforms into a uniform, glowing logo at night.
