Microprism Acrylic (Anti-Glare)

SRT Microprism Acrylic Sheet (PMMA-Prism)

Precision Glare Control for Office & Architectural Lighting

Achieve superior visual comfort with SRT Microprism Acrylic (PMMA-Prism). This clear extruded sheet features a precision-engineered micro-prismatic pattern on one side, designed specifically to control light distribution and minimize glare. Capable of achieving a UGR < 19 rating, it enables lighting manufacturers to comply with strict EN 12464 standards for office workspaces. With a high light transmission of 90%, it directs light efficiently downwards, reducing eye strain and eliminating the harsh 'sparkle' often associated with direct LED illumination.

Microprism Acrylic (Anti-Glare)

Engineered for Visual Comfort (UGR < 19)

Modern office lighting requires a delicate balance between brightness and comfort. SRT PMMA-Prism is the solution. The micro-prismatic structure works by "cutting off" high-angle light rays that cause glare, redirecting them downwards onto the work surface. When installed correctly, this sheet helps luminaires achieve a Unified Glare Rating (UGR) of less than 19, which is the mandatory standard for workspaces involving reading, writing, and computer use (EN 12464).

Optical Efficiency & Transmission

Unlike milky diffusers that absorb light to reduce glare, SRT Microprism relies on optical refraction. This allows it to maintain a very high light transmission of 90% (Plain Side) to 96% (Patterned Side). The result is a highly efficient fixture that maximizes lumen output while maintaining a soft, professional aesthetic.

Surface Texture & Orientation

The sheet features one perfectly smooth side and one textured side containing the micro-pyramids. For standard de-glaring applications, the prismatic side typically faces outwards (away from the LEDs), though this can vary based on specific luminaire design. The material is rigid, lightweight, and UV-stable, ensuring it will not yellow in sunlight or under high-output LEDs.

Processing & Fabrication

SRT PMMA-Prism can be cut to size using laser cutting or saw blades suitable for acrylic. Laser cutting is particularly recommended as it seals the edges and prevents the micro-prisms from chipping. While the sheet can be cold-curved or line bent, deep thermoforming is generally not recommended as stretching the material distorts the prism geometry and alters the light distribution properties.

Typical Use Cases

Specifically engineered for suspended ceiling LED panels in modern workspaces. By controlling the angle of light distribution, it prevents the harsh glare that reflects off computer monitors. This protects employees from eye strain and headaches, making it a mandatory component for EN 12464 compliant office fit-outs.
