Prismatic Acrylic (Standard Pattern)

SRT Prismatic Acrylic Sheet (PMMA-Ref 16)

Textured Light Diffusion for General Illumination

Optimize light distribution with SRT Prismatic Acrylic (PMMA-Ref 16). This clear, extruded sheet features a classic geometric prismatic pattern embossed on one side, designed to break up harsh light and obscure the light source while maintaining high transmission (90%). Unlike smooth sheets, the textured surface effectively hides dust, scratches, and fingerprints, making it the ideal low-maintenance choice for overhead lighting covers, suspended ceiling panels, and skylights. It offers a robust, lightweight alternative to traditional prismatic glass.

Prismatic Acrylic (Standard Pattern)

Standard Geometric Diffusion

SRT PMMA-Prismatic features the industry-standard "Ref 16" pattern—a network of small, inverted pyramids embossed into the surface. This structure refracts light in multiple directions, transforming a single point of light (like a bulb or LED) into a broader, more comfortable glow. It is the go-to solution for general area lighting where efficiency and durability are more critical than strict anti-glare control.

Optical Performance & Efficiency

Despite its heavy texture, the sheet is manufactured from crystal-clear PMMA, allowing for a light transmission of 90%. This ensures that light fixtures remain efficient and bright. The prismatic structure not only diffuses light but also helps to direct it downwards, improving the "Light Output Ratio" (LOR) of ceiling fixtures compared to milky white diffusers which absorb more energy.

Durability & Aesthetics

One of the key advantages of Prismatic Acrylic is its practical durability. The textured surface is naturally forgiving; it hides dust accumulation, fingerprints, and minor surface scratches that would be glaringly obvious on a smooth glossy sheet. Combined with PMMA's natural UV stability, this makes it an excellent material for skylights and high-level glazing that is difficult to clean regularly.

Processing & Installation

SRT PMMA-Prismatic is rigid and easy to handle. It is commonly cut to size for drop-in ceiling replacements. When installing, the textured side usually faces the light source (inwards) to maximize diffusion, while the smooth side faces outwards for easier wiping/cleaning, although this can be reversed depending on the desired aesthetic effect.

Typical Use Case

A robust choice for industrial skylights and garage lighting covers. The diamond texture breaks up direct sunlight or intense LED beams to spread light evenly across a wide floor area. Additionally, the patterned surface effectively hides the dust and grime that inevitably accumulates in hard-to-reach overhead installations.

Optical Grade Selection Guide

  • SRT Opal (Ref 385): 34% Transmission. High density for maximum hiding power. Best for signage and deep channel letters.
  • SRT LED Ice (Ref 519): 72% Transmission. High efficiency diffuser. Best for shallow LED lightboxes to maximize brightness without hotspots.
  • SRT iFrost (Satin): 70% Transmission. Velvet-textured finish. Insensitive to fingerprints; ideal for furniture and architectural lighting.
  • SRT Prismatic (Ref 16): 90% Transmission. Standard diamond pattern. Breaks up light for general illumination and skylights.
  • SRT Microprism (Ref 150): 90% Transmission (UGR < 19). Precision micro-pattern for glare control. Essential for EN 12464 compliant office lighting.
