Translucent Colored Polycarbonate

SRT Plastics PC Translucent Colored is a solid polycarbonate sheet available in translucent colors. Translucent means the sheet allows light to pass through, but is not fully transparent — ideal for diffused lighting effects and visual privacy. For colors you can clearly see through, we refer to them as transparent. Opaque colors, by contrast, block most or all light and are not see-through.

This polycarbonate sheet can be supplied with a double-sided coextruded UV-protective layer containing UV-absorbing additives, which extends outdoor lifespan by protecting against yellowing and weathering.

The material is:

  • Extremely impact-resistant (virtually unbreakable)
  • Lightweight (about 50% of the weight of glass)
  • Self-extinguishing with excellent fire performance
  • Thermally stable across a wide range of temperatures

That makes it ideal for outdoor architectural applications where safety, durability, and weight are key — such as canopies, façades, safety glazing, and public infrastructure. It’s a proven solution where traditional glass would pose a risk of breakage and liability.

SRT Plastics PC – Translucent Colored

SRT Plastics PC – Translucent Colored is a solid polycarbonate sheet available in light-diffusing colors. These translucent sheets allow light to pass through but are not fully transparent, creating soft illumination with reduced glare. Transparent sheets offer clearer visibility, while opaque ones block light completely.

This translucent PC sheet can be produced with a double-sided UV-protective coextruded layer containing absorbers that prevent discoloration and material degradation due to sun exposure. With outstanding impact resistance, high temperature tolerance, light weight, and self-extinguishing fire performance, this product is designed for demanding exterior environments.

Where breakage and liability risks make glass unsuitable, SRT’s translucent polycarbonate is the superior choice. At just 50% of the weight of glass, it's ideal for use in architectural and lightweight construction applications.

Extreme Impact Resistance

These translucent PC sheets are 10× stronger than high-impact acrylic and over 2× tougher than PETG, yet remain easy to cut, machine, thermoform, and cold bend. They’re perfect for complex shapes and demanding environments where appearance and resilience matter equally.

Fire Safety & European Certification

SRT Plastics PC – Translucent Colored offers excellent fire performance. Depending on thickness, the material complies with EN13501-1 standards for use in buildings.

Its oxygen index is too low to sustain combustion without an active flame, which means the material is self-extinguishing under normal conditions. In the event of a fire, it softens and allows smoke and heat to escape, reducing the risk of flame propagation and enabling safer evacuation routes.
