IP ratings show how well an enclosure keeps out dust and water. IEC 60529 uses two digits where the first is solids and the second is water. Some sectors refer to IP69K while IEC 60529 uses IPX9 for a similar high pressure jet test. The first IP digit covers solids from zero to six. The second covers water from zero to nine. X simply means not evaluated. Example IP67 is dust tight and protected against temporary immersion. For road vehicles you may see IP69K while the IEC jet test is IPX9.

Passing IP depends on the complete enclosure. Use continuous gaskets with suitable hardness and compression. Keep joints clean and avoid capillary paths around fasteners. Select panel thickness and support to hold gasket squeeze across temperature changes. Treat cable entries as critical points and use rated glands.

Polycarbonate offers high impact and good machinability for windows and doors. PMMA gives high clarity where impact is moderate. HPL provides stiff mounting plates and spacers. FR ABS and PC ABS suit opaque covers where flame behavior also matters. We cut to size machine and finish parts and supply a Certificate of Conformity. Supplier test reports are available where applicable.
